Your first useful result
Veil separates reading mail from deciding what happens next. Begin with the intended mailbox, then learn the message list, reader and action areas. The goal is a clear conversation and a deliberate next step, not an automatic reply to everything that arrives.

Choose a mailbox you can identify
Create a Veil address or bring an address you already use. Check the display name, actual email and connection state. Additional addresses belong to the same account but remain distinct inboxes. Read the open-mailbox label when the list looks unfamiliar; a different mailbox and an empty filtered view need different recovery steps.
Keep the list and conversation distinct
The list summarises sender, subject and message state. The reader separates the title, sender, body and footer from the controls around them. On a smaller screen, use the tab's message-list control to reveal the list when needed. Check the selected message before acting instead of relying on where an item happened to appear in the queue.
Search and select filter options
Enter a sender, phrase or subject, then open Filter to select options in its dialog. Read the chosen state before applying. If nothing matches, clear the query or filter and check the folder and mailbox. An empty result does not prove that messages were deleted or that a delivery attempt failed.
Choose the next step outside the email body
Use the separated reply, reminder or secure-link controls. Review extracted commitments, assignments and deadlines against the source message before relying on them. Action Desk and follow-up views organise work, but highlighting a phrase does not authorize every suggested action. Choose the step that matches the conversation rather than accepting all suggestions.
Configure a secure view before sending
Open Secure link and review expiration, access and view options in its dialog. Check recipients and the shared material's scope. Revocation and expiry restrict later access through Veil; they cannot retract content already viewed, copied or forwarded. Treat the link as controlled delivery, not a guarantee that a recipient cannot retain a copy.
Compose, review and use Settings in context
Check From, recipients, subject and attachments before sending or scheduling. Review the timezone and eventual delivery result. AI replies stay off until you explicitly enable an action or rule; inspect paid-action cost information before confirming. Settings keeps inbox configuration and connections together without replacing the reading arena. Diagnose connection failures separately from filters and retain safe message references for support.
Common questions
Can I use an existing email and a Veil address?
Yes. Use the appropriate setup path and confirm the active mailbox before composing or changing its configuration.
Does disabling a rule retract a sent reply?
No. It prevents future automated actions. Review submitted messages and delivery status separately.
